Getting ready to travel
It’s hard to believe that it’s the end of July already. Where is the summer going?
Here in Indiana we’re getting ready to start legs 2 and 3 of our summer travel plans.
Thursday we are leaving for my sister’s, P, place in Maryland. (Finally get to see the baby minature horses!!). It’s a short visit with her, but we are using her home as a base as I take Boy into Baltimore. He made the Magic Nationals again and it’s playoff time. While he plays on Saturday, Girl and I are going to play tourists and explore as much as we can on foot. The Convention Center is right near the water, so I’m hoping we can find lots to do. Anyone local have a suggestion?
We’ll be home from that late on Monday. and after a quick day to do laundry and catch up, we’ll be heading out again.
West this time. The kids and I will be driving up to my other sister’s, L, place in Montana. It will keep us on the road forever (with only one driver), but we’re planning on some sight seeing stops to break things up.
When we head out on Thursday, I’m going to be trying to watch the odometer closely. My van is nearly at 100,000 miles and I want to watch it hit it. Does anyone else remember when they topped out at 99,999 and 100,000 miles meant it was rolling over? I missed it on my last car. Totally spaced. I’ll probably do it again this time. I tend to get in a zone on long drives.
I had planned on some posts about next year (we finally have some plans) and about the 10 foot deep money pit that’s in my back yard. But I ended up spending the evening answering questions from a newbie tonight and I’m not going to write much more at this time of the morning.
So, I’ll close with some good news. While I’m still upset with Collegeboard that Boy will have to take the AP statistics exam over again because they lost his test (and all the others from the local high school where he took it), we did get his AP geography score today. He pulled a 5 (the best possible). Needless to say, he’s a happy pup. Mom’s feeling pretty darn good as well.
