I have an amazing friend.
Her strength dealing with her own life is enough to shame me, but she also has such a caring heart that she will put her own pain aside to reach out to others.
She has 3 kids she’s raising. The two oldest have dead-beat fathers, but her current husband is trying to be a dad to all of them. Her youngest is just barely 5 years old. Even before becoming a teen-aged mom, she’d had a tough life.
We lived in New Mexico for 10 months for Hubby’s work. Jo and her family entered our life when they started homeschooling. Our daughters hit it off and even now (a year and a half later) they speak on the phone a couple of times a week.
Jo and I don’t talk nearly that often. We talked today. I wish I was there to give her a hug and help her.
Her cancer is back.
They hope to be able to remove the lumps in her neck, but the lumps under her arm, in her breast, and in her lungs are going to stay for the time being.
She knew it was coming. But the kind of cancer she has is suppose to grow slowly. These lumps weren’t there at her last scan.
She knew it was coming, but she just wants to be able to raise her youngest and see him as a adult.
If you’ve wondered why she’s been quiet lately, it’s because she’s not feeling well and sitting at the computer is low on her list.

This is heartbreaking. Man, I hate cancer. Best to Jo as she fights the ugly beast, and to you as you do your best to support her over the distance.
