I’m sitting here trying to deal with crashing software, when our tree FALLS OVER!!!!
I’m not a happy camper this evening.
The tree fell over because picking a tree out in the dark, we ended up with a beautiful tree…. with a bent trunk. I thought we had it balanced, but it appears not.
Right now I have it tied to the curtain rod, but that ’s not a great fix and someone will still have to rehang ornaments and rebalance the light strands - GIRL, I know what you are doing tomorrow!
The software is crashing because I updated to Office 2007 finally. Everything seemed to be working fine, but then I went into an Access database. HAH!
The databases that I’ve set up for things are working fine, but not the database program that I purchase a few years ago and use regularly. It can’t seem to find the file when I go through the shortcut and when I try going through Access, it tells me I don’t have the permissions I need to get into it. (not a big surprise given that I didn’t write the fool thing, but annoying anyway!)
I’ve sent an email to their support and hopefully they will have an answer for me tomorrow.
But still, GRRRRRR!

Justyna thinks a clean house is unnatural and our house certainly follows the same plan. But it did get cleaned for the Tea today. And while the weather kept some people away, those that came had a good time.
For the Tea it was cleaner than when my mil comes for a visit, and I certainly enjoyed the lack of clutter and papers. I do know that all I’ll be hearing from both kids is how they can’t find anything because of the need to clean up piles out here.

Normally the fireplace is 6 inches deep in whatever the kids are reading, magazines, and unprocessed mail (Boy’s college stuff lately) and library books that need returning. We actually were able to clear it off and light the fire today.
The piano is a perfect place to pile newspapers and newspaper clippings that need more time to read closely.
This room has had more changes than any other space over the nine years we’ve lived in this house, but it’s never been so lacking of some sort of toys and clutter.
All that was left was the animal toys under the futon and a few Lego models on display (out of the reach of little hands)
How long this will last is anyone’s guess, but I’m thinking it will be less than one day.

One of my favorite stories of my father’s was when he was 7 years old and brought home a Christmas tree. ‘All the other houses on the street had one, so he thought they should as well.’
I think I always had the impression that he understood at the age that the tree wasn’t part of Hanukkah, he just loved the decorated trees. Especially the candy canes hanging on it for anyone to have.
Growing up we always had a family rule that any child that came into the house left with a candy cane. I suspect that it came from his experiences as a child.
Now back to cleaning.
HT to Kim.

I can now join the hordes of other blogs who have started to post links telling you all about the candidate that they support.
Why?
Because I have found the one that I want to run this country. I knew it as soon as I read his stance on education.
Educated by his devoted and devout deaf parents at a home school in a remote corner of Wyoming…..
So I can proudly say that I support Driben for President!
Now, how do I go about getting a bumper sticker?

Okay, this is how my evening will go on Thursday - hopefully.
Girl needs to be over to bake cookies about 1 PM. I can leave her there and hopefully T will be able to bring her home about 4ish
A little after 4, Boy wants to go over to the local college to listen to a special speaker they are bringing in: Joseph Sebarenzi, a former head of the Rwandan Parliament. It’s not clear how long he’ll be speaking but I’m assuming that it’ll be mostly done about 6.
About a quarter to 6, Girl and I will be heading out. I’ll drop her off at the library for the teen volunteers’ Christmas party (that starts at 6:30) and then I’ll head up to another college in town. But it’s not like she won’t be able to find something to do for 30 minutes.
My choir is singing for the nuns there and we are suppose to be there about 6:15ish, to sing at 6:30.
Hubby is suppose to be done with work at 6 and he’ll swing by and pick up Boy from the talk and take him down to join Girl at the library.
I should be done singing about 7:30 and then I’ll swing by the library (it is on the way) and pick up the kids who are suppose to be done about 8.
And then we go home…
I feel like I’m choreographing a dance routine.

I saw this over at Hoppes Homestead and at first thought it was the same one I did last year, but it at least starts differently.
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper.
2. Tree - Real or Artificial? Real, I usually prefer fresh cut, but this year that wasn’t an option with the kids’ schedules, so we got it at a lot.
3. When do you put the Christmas tree up? When we get around to getting it.
4. When do you take the tree down? After the first of the year.
5. Like Egg Nog? Absolutely NO WAY
6. Do you have a nativity scene? Well I actually have one put away (it was always something my mom would put out) but we don’t even take it out of the box.
7. Favorite gift received as a child? I’m not sure
8. Hardest person to buy for? My FIL. There’s just not a lot you can get him and usually it’s necessary to ask for a list of ideas. This year we actually found something (or maybe I should say I found something) that he’ll think is kind of neat.
9. Easiest person to buy for? Boy - video games, graphic novels, gift cards to a book store, or shirts with neat sayings on them.
10. Worst Christmas gift? Nearly anything from my step-mother (and I can say that because she doesn’t come out here)
11. Mail or email a Christmas Card? Mail.
12. Favorite Christmas movie? Miracle of 34th St. One of my favorite authors, Connie Willis, has a great short story about people who prefer Miracle to It’s a Wonderful Life.
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Me, or the family. I try to always keep my eye open for things. It works for my side of the family (who Hubby doesn’t usually care about), but not so well for his - and he’s usually not ready to think about shopping until the 22nd or so. STRESS anyone?
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Better that than trashing it entirely
15. Favorite food to eat on Christmas? Cookies!
16. Clear or colored tree lights? colored, screw-in lights, with some the blink and some that don’t and don’t forget a few bubble lights to make it fun.
17. Favorite Christmas Song? Silent Night.
18. Travel during Christmas or stay home? Stay home
19. Can you name Santa’s reindeer’s? Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen, Rudolph - but then K had them done already.
20. Angel or Star on tree top? star
21. Open presents on Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas Day
22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? THE LACK OF SNOW!!! at least living here. I’m very sick of cold rain at the moment. But really it would be the lack of time.
Anyone else?

In fact, it’s so amazing that I’m surprised that the news outlets are not using it for a lead story. I mean it’s right up there in WOW effect for some important site (like WND) to pick up.
Do you remember that child, baby really, whose entire family were these amazing muscle ‘men’ and the baby could already lift amazing amounts of mass?
This story is even more amazing.
You are not going to believe it.
Well, I found this last night after poking around on the web. And it just floors me that no one else seems to have realized what an amazing thing this is.
I know, I know. You want to share in my discovery.
Well, I have found a baby, less than a year old, that tops the muscle man.
Why? you ask…. Read the rest of this entry »

First off, just to make it clear, last time I checked I’m bombing in the HBA.
Big surprise? No.
But I check it occasionally just to see.
Well, this morning I noticed my little nomination sticker was missing on the blog, so I went to see what was up.
I’m sure there’s a good explanation (but who knows if we’ll see it)
But this is what came up in place of HBA
This Account Has Been Suspended
edited later: Their whole site appears to be down.
And later still: It’s back up, no explanation. Was it a missed payment? we’ll probably never know.
