So fair is over..
And all that’s left is picking up projects tomorrow afternoon.
And I guess I didn’t get around to telling you how they did.
Boy got a honor ribbon on his bracers, and a division championship on one of his photography exhibits (gads, I’m blanking on which one, I’ll have to figure that out tomorrow.) He also got a couple of place ribbons in the open show photography (again, I’m drawing a blank). We think two of his photography exhibits will be going to state, but again, we’re waiting for pick up tomorrow to be sure.
But his big news is that at the Achievement program tonight, he was awarded one of four 4H Council Scholarships!
Girl got a reserve championship ribbon for her gift wrapping, achampionship ribbon for her CD case (and it’s going to state), and the reserve Grand Championship for photography (we think 2 of her exhibits are going to state, but not the one that got the 2nd top prize, which is kind of confusing - though allowable in photography). oh, the picture is the one of the sunset, btw. Her weather poster also took a reserve grand championship (and it’s going), but the surprise of the week is that her bread won the Grand Championship for foods. It’s a very hard project to do well in, let alone beat out everyone else. She is quite tied up with trying to figure out how to have it at it’s freshest for sending it to Indy next month.
And I guess to make it complete, I should say that Girl’s costume won the open show costume division of sewing, while Boy’s took second in historical garb. My leather bowl had no competition, so it will have to wait until the open show at State Fair to be really judged. And I also had a handful of photographs win.
Not bad at all.
And before I run off for the night, I want to say that Girl and I went to see Love Guru this afternoon - what a waste of 2 hours.
But there was one thing from the movie that I wanted to share:
B - Basic
I - Instructions
B - Before
L - Leaving
E - Earth
I got a kick out of it - at least I’ve never heard of it before.

whoo-hoo! Congrats from a mom who KNOWS how tough 4H competition is.
We (the kids, I’m just watching) are finishing up projects, shearing the last sheep, and packing. We deliver static exhibits Monday, move animals and camp gear in on Tuesday and stay until Sunday.
My last fair. Their last fair.
You know there’s gonna be tears.

Thanks Doc,
I still have Girl’s 4 years, but I can imagine what I’ll be like then.

What does “reserve” mean?

Congrats on all the awards. Charlie absolutely loves his picture.
And as for the Bible bit…. I’ve heard it before. I like it. I think it’s cute.

Congrats.
It always amazes me how, once you are a parent, your kids’ accomplishments are so much more important to you than your own.
