Amazingly, it was the hardest thing to give away
So, Boy’s moving out in less than a month and Hubby and I got talking.
We decided that it was time to clear this out of the back.
With all of the wind storms we’ve been having this year, all we seem to do with it is stand it back up yet again. No one is using it.
So, I post it on our local homeschool list - Free for whoever wants to come and get it - though it will be a pill to take apart and there is a small crack in the base (just making sure that people know what they are getting).
Hey, you can’t see it, but it is there.
Not even a whisper of interest.
Okay, so I look wider. It’s free! Surely someone will want it!
I find Mom A - she’s wants it. Great! oh wait, her dh comes home and he says no.
I find Mom B - she wants it. Great! She’ll come get in on Sunday. A few days later our emails cross - “will if fit in a Durango?” ummm, not as is and it’s kind of rusted, so taking it apart will be a pill.
On Sunday I haven’t heard from her about when, so I call the number she gave me. “Right, will it fit in my Durango?” not really. Can you borrow a pickup truck? “But I can put both rows of seats down. Won’t it fit?” I’m sorry, but it is TEN FEET tall with big pieces at both ends. I really don’t think it will. “oh, I’ll see if I have any other options, but go ahead if someone else wants it”
I felt bad, but I had clearly said that it was adjustable from 7.5 to 10 ft., and the backboard makes it taller still.
So we go to Mom C - YEAH, she sets a time. They have a pickup truck.
And now it’s gone. Amazing, I didn’t think it would be this involved.

We’ve learned from our, and our friends’, experience with FreeCycle and our own homeschool group that sometimes you can’t even give away really good stuff. Isn’t it weird?
