Happy Halloween!

2008102202_

And even though I just did one, here’s a seasonal meme from bore me to tears:

Are you scared of bats?
Nope.

When you were a kid, did you go out on Mischief Night?
No, but my brother used to Trick while I Treated.  He had one firecracker trick that has stuck with me over the years, but I won’t share it here.

What is your favorite trick-or-treat candy?
hmm,  peanut butter cups

Have you ever seen a ghost?
No. There’s no such thing as ghosts  :) – though I used to live in a haunted house as a child.

The most memorable costume you ever wore?
hmmm,  I remember a black cat that I was head over heels about – the sad thing is that I saw a pic of it years later and was like – UGH.

Do you carve a happy or a scary face on the pumpkin?
I carve a face – it’s up to the viewer to decide what’s going on.

Do you dress up on Halloween?
No. I never got into it as an adult.

Any cooking or baking you do for Halloween?
Why? (though I have some Halloween cookie cutters)

Have you ever been to The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland or Disneyworld?
Yes.

Any element of the season you don’t like?
The fear of contaminated candy.  Why people would want to is beyond me.

What is your favorite scary movie?
I’m not into scary movies.  I’ll read scary books, but the movies – blah.  Probably because my imagination can do so much.  My favorite scary books are Ghost Story by Peter Straub (imagine a horror story set in your small town – that’s what it was for me; well, the next town over) and Bones by Jan Burke (the scene that got me was the main character going off in the woods with the Hannibal character to dig up his victims (she was working with the cops)).

Do you cook the pumpkin seeds from your carved jack-o-lanterns?
Nope, I don’t like them.

Are you intrigued with vampires?
oh yes.  Ever since I read I am Legend years ago, I have loved vamp novels.

    Your dog is so cute!

    Interesting meme. We hadn’t taken the kids TOTing since…hm, 2001, I think. We’re not big on candy (we do love our organic chocolate though) and I don’t want to make costumes anymore. :}

The scariest movie I never saw (because no one would watch it with me, I had to turn it off after about 15 minutes) is The Changeling with George C. Scott. I might force dh to watch it with me some day. I used to love scary books (back in high school), but my heart’s too weak for it now.

I’ve been talking about our real-life changes and with moving and all I suspect that that I’ll be fairly quiet for the next couple of weeks.
