For the record,

I’m about 3 days behind on reading my blog roll.  And I just got it trimmed down to just a few handfuls unread, and everyone has been posting happy since then, so now I’m in worse shape than where it was.

Anyway, two parties are down and the one more today.  (That’s not counting the homeschool party and gift exchange on the 12th or my chorus’s party on the 15th)  The last family for today, isn’t coming, so there will be 18 of us.

I was getting teased yesterday for being too practical, but the house is clean and now I’ll use left overs from yesterday to round things out today. Hey, people even left me with extra cookies from yesterday to use today!

So, to the food list I posted on Friday, I’ll add a veggie tray (just need to get more baby carrots) and cookies.  I also need to pick up the supplies for the punch (I’m not serving soda for a holiday party) and then I’m all set.  Not too much hassle and the house only needed a quick sweeping and vacuuming after people left yesterday.

Yesterday was fun, with eight families (including us) and lots of cookies.  The girls varied from a mixed age bunch all playing with the the toddler toys I put out to later the older teenagers disappearing into bedrooms to talk.  The pre-teen group of girls were tearing around the house full speed for awhile, laughing away.  It was a nice mix.  And the moms drifted from small conversations to at one point us all sitting and talking (amazingly for the mom of the toddler that she was happily busy and not hanging all over her as she normally does.)

And since I’ve been on a picture bent, I’ll leave you with some more…

First, my decorated house:

Then the “nibbling” table from Saturday’s party.  This was before most of the people came (everyone brought one dozen cookies to nibble and two dozen to share)  The candle in the middle is a Danish countdown candle that Datter’s mom sent us.

And I also want to share these little guys.  They are Danish Christmas Elves and Datter’s mom also sent them for me.  I think they are adorable, especially the one in the sled.

And lastly, here’s some of the baking I’ve been doing.

For Friday, I took a tray of brownies.  It was mixed “normal” chocolate ones and also the orange ones that mil made last spring.

And for Saturday, we made coal.

I love the photos! Your house looks very festive.

  2. Your house looks great, and that coal… well, I wouldn’t mind some of that in MY stocking this year.

You are quite the party animal, Meg…who’da thunk? ;D

    One party a month puts me in the exhausted category. Guess who’s NOT a party animal? LOL! In fact, one of dh’s colleagues is having a party next weekend, and I’ve been dreading it ever since we got the invitation. The food table and I usually become excellent friends at a party (unless I over-hear a conversation about quantum physics, and then I will hang out with that group). :}

Your house looks gorgeous – and I’m drooling over your baby grand. We only have room for a console, and it’s ancient and going out of tune.

You always make these seem like so much fun. I wish I lived near you. We never have anything going on like you do either.

While I’m here I want to remind you and your readers about the give aways on my blogs.

  6. Okay, I love the Lego decorations! Years ago we decorated our entire tree with Legos. It was great, and the kids still talk about it.

That coal looks fantastic. I hope you’ll consider posting the recipe for my cookie exchange!

I have the same problem with my blog roll. I catch up and then everyone has to go and post again.
