It’s a book meme

I haven’t done a meme in AGES, so when Jane mentioned this one, I had to do it.

Found this at Indiana Jane’s Bookshelf. If you want to do it, consider yourself tagged and let me know in the comments that you answered it.

Book Confessions Meme

1. To mark your page you: use a bookmark, bend the page corner, leave the book open face down?
I drive the rest of my family crazy ‘cause I dog-ear corners like crazy in my paperbacks.  OTH, if it’s a hardcover I’ll use the coverflap to mark pages.  And I do use “something” as a bookmark if it’s not my book.

2. Do you lend your books?
Yes, and I’ll usually write my name inside the cover, but then don’t worry about who has it.

3. You find an interesting passage: you write in your book or NO WRITING IN BOOKS!
No way!!

4. Dust jackets – leave it on or take it off.
lol – remember no. 1?  I not only leave it on, I use it as a bookmark.

5. Hard cover, paperback, skip it and get the audio book?
Paperback if I can – it’s cheaper.  But there are a few authors that I can’t wait the 6 months to a year for the books to come out in paperback (and the local library doesn’t carry) and those I get in hardcover.

6. Do you shelve your books by subject, author, or size and color of the book spines?
Can I plead the fifth?  Okay,  they are shelved loosely by subject (homeschool books out here, most non-fiction in the spare room, most fiction in my room), then by size (oversized paperbacks and hardcovers are separated from paperbacks), and then by author…but that only works for about 5 mins.  After I read the next book, they just start getting jammed in where ever.

7. Buy it or borrow it from the library later?
Both? A couple of years ago I started to try to use the library more – with mixed success since some of the authors I read aren’t on their shelves.  So, now I still make impulse purchases at the book store, but I try to find some books at the library if I know to look for them.

8. Do you put your name on your books – scribble your name in the cover, fancy bookplate, or stamp?
Only the books I’m loaning – and then I write on the inside cover.

9. Most of the books you own are rare and out of print books or recent publications?
Well, there’s some that I have carried around for more than 20 years and are now out of print…but that’s not what I think of when you say  “rare and out of print books”

10. Page edges – deckled or straight?
Who cares?

11. How many books do you read at one time?
Usually one, but the last few years I’ve found myself reading more than one numerous times.

12. Be honest, ever tear a page from a book?
Why?

I’ve been talking about our real-life changes and with moving and all I suspect that that I’ll be fairly quiet for the next couple of weeks.
But I’m also considering a virtual move.  Ron and Andrea have been wonderful, but for a couple of reasons I’m contemplating moving my blog to another site.
