It’s the last week, and I’m in that spot where I have a total blank for ideas and no real drive to write today, but….
I’m trying, so this will be a fairly wandering post – Enjoy.
I think one reason I’m not motivated is that I know the next seven days will be harder to get daily posts in. Boy is coming home tomorrow night and Girl and I have plans to make pies during the evening (after working all day.) Thursday is T-day, of course, but with the Thankful posts I, at least, will know what I need to make time for. Friday we are looking at a house full of teenagers, so finding some time to write shouldn’t be too bad. But Saturday and Sunday we’ll be in Chicago, which I see looming as a big hurdle to posting. After that, Monday should be just a piece of cake.
Oh well. I can say that overall I have enjoyed the exercise and do plan on continuing to post (though around moving next month, it may go back to being spotty.)
We are continuing to clean out ’stuff’ in preparation to moving. In addition to the books I had already packed up, Girl sorted out about half of her manga collection to get rid of. Rather than giving them directly to the Friends of the Library to sell, they went to our friendly children’s librarian. She’s planning on going through them and seeing what she can put out on the shelves.
This past weekend I cleaned out our garage like I said. I now have a pile of stuff waiting for a home. Among the things I’m clearing out are the kids’ wooden crib and high chair. When we moved here 10 years ago neither kid was using them anymore, but Hubby and I had figured on having more kids. So both of them were put out in the garage for storage.
Well, as you’ve probably figured out, we didn’t end up having more kids. So they have both just sat out there. At this point I’m thinking that grandkids are still a bit off and so they are going.
I’ve found someone who wants the highchair (she has piles and piles of grandkids and when they all come to visit having a spare one is handy) but not the crib. I figured someone would know someone who would appreciate getting a free one (just in need of some elbow grease) but no such luck. I guess it will go to Good Will – I just hope that they don’t lose all the parts.
Lately I’ve been subbing at the local high schools, in particular the one that Girl is attending. She’s decided that she likes having me work there because then she doesn’t have to wait for the bus in the morning and gets home quicker in the afternoon. It seems that it’s getting a little cold in the morning standing outside.
Subbing for high schools is a lot more laid back than the middle schools and my days have either been full of watching videos over and over again -
No video is fun to see 4 times in a row and in the last week I’ve seen the Lion King and Fantastic 4 as well as this thing from the History channel about hand tools and this BBC one about Eiffel. (okay, I probably found Eiffel more interesting than the woodworking students did the first time, but by the fourth I could recite it in my sleep.)
or reading while the kids do their work. The good news is that I’m getting caught up on my backlogged books for once.
So far, most of the high school kids don’t need the level of being right on top of them that the middle school kids need. OTH, with the middle school kids I actually get to feel like I’m doing something.
