I got the idea for this when I was trying to find Girl’s Facebook page in order to friend her. I found someone in Philadelphia that had her exact name.
For each of these, don’t count yourself or your immediate family.
Number of people who share your last name - over 500
Number of people who share your maiden name - 34 (or your mother’s maiden name,or…) - Hey, I think I found a cousin!
Number of people who share your nickname - over 500
Number of people who share your given name (if it is different, like mine is really Margaret) - over 500
Number of people who share your common name and last name combination (to search: in Find People type your name in the search box inside of quotes.) - 3 (though they were all Megans, so they don’t match my anticipated search, but I can understand why they showed up)
How many people of your high school graduating class that have pages - 27 (out of nearly 600) and I know my page doesn’t not list my high school and year of graduation, so it doesn’t really count. There’s probably more like me.
Number of people who share your spouse/partner’s nickname - over 500
Number of people who share your spouse/partner’s given name - over 500
Number of people who share your spouse/partner’s common name and last name combination - 22
Number of people who share your child(ren)’s common name and last name combination
- Girl - 1
- Boy - 5
If anyone else does it, let me know.

Hmmm, I’m still untangling biology. I thought I had it all set up for 10 kids…and then ended up with 11. It may seem minor, but that’s the difference between 3 or 4 groups which mean ordering more supplies….
but since we only have 3 microscopes, some labs will still be 3 groups. So I had to go through all the labs and think about organization and then recalculate supplies.
Sure wish I was charging for my time…
Anyway, Teresa had the meme up and it looked like about my mental level.
There is only one rule: you Google your first name with the word “needs” behind it and post the results.
And we get:
LOL - Meg needs a better name. The first thing that shows up is someone else doing the same meme! And the second. And the seventh.
so, the first “real” responses are:
Meg needs a Gay boyfriend - why? what am a I missing?
Meg needs to go - okay, where and are you paying?
Meg needs blood - Yes, I’ve been reading twilight and even the books behind Tru-blood, but I’m not a vampire yet…
Meg needs a new leg - I’m not going to comment, because I followed the link and it’s not something to make fun of.
Meg needs Key Man Insurance - What do I need to cover?
And that’s the first page of Google.
Anyone else try it?

I haven’t done a book oriented meme for a while and I can’t resist books.
I “saw” it at RedMolly, but for some reason she didn’t “do” all the books yet, so I went back to the source.
The RULES - because you know there has to be some.
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicise those you intend to read (as in the book is bought and sitting on my shelf).
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
So there are 98 books on the list.
1. Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen - Girl made me read it this year. She loves it, I’m so-so
2. The Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien - I’ve read some of it? I just couldn’t get into it, though the Hobbit was fine and I LOVED the movies
3. Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte
4. Harry Potter series - JK Rowling
5. To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
6. The Bible - Which one? I read the Tanakh and parts of the new testament.
7. Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
8. Nineteen Eighty Four - George Orwell - We have it, but I’ll probably never read it.
9. His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman - I started it years ago when Girl found it and a Christian friend mentioned “the problems” with it, I probably only got a third of the way into it before getting distracted.
10. Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
11. Little Women - Louisa M Alcott
12. Tess of the D’Urbervilles - Thomas Hardy
13. Catch 22 - Joseph Heller
14. Complete Works of Shakespeare - again, some but not all.

This meme comes via Sandra Dodd. I saw it over there ages ago, but then got sidetracked and never did it.
The fine print:
Name 5 places you’ve lived. Be as specific or generic as you like.
List 5 memories associated with each of those places.
Tag 5 others.
I’m not going to tag anyone, but let me know if you decide to do it.
So, I’ve already given out a list of the 26ish places I’ve lived and so now I need to decide on which 5 to focus on. Read the rest of this entry »

For some odd reason, nobody tags me for a meme - and I enjoy doing them occasionally!
So, I have to go find them for myself. Since Jo has been so quiet this year, I figured I had to pick up the one she did.
Accent: I’m one of those people that tends to talk like the people around her (Except that I have this mid-western thing about my r’s in some words, and I’ve had it my whole like. For example: wash comes out like it has an r in it.) When Hubby and I got married he was finishing up grad school at Brown, which meant he was interacting with a wide selection of people from all over the world. I was working in a small engineering office just over the state line in Massachusetts. I shared my office with another engineer from Lowell, MA. She had a very, very strong Boston accent. We got married in Buffalo, and people kept coming up to Hubby asking him why he was talking normal and I sounded like I had been living in Boston.
Breakfast or no breakfast: BREAKFAST - definitely. Most often it’s a large glass of OJ and a bagel, though I won’t complain about eggs or pancakes, or even donuts. I can’t stand milk in the morning - it makes me feel sick to my stomach, and I don’t drink coffee.
Chore I don’t care for: CLEANING THE HOUSE - can I lump it all into one chore?
Dog or Cat: We have 1 dog and 2 cats, but I could live without the cats. I’d miss the beast.
Essential Electronics: Computer, cell phone, stereo, pda….I probably have too many
Favorite Cologne: Don’t have any, don’t wear any
Gold or Silver: White gold?
Handbag I carry most often: My leather purse - no big surprise
Insomnia: rarely. I’m the one whose head hits the pillow and I’m gone. Of course if I got more sleep, I’d probably take longer.
Job Title: Jack of all trades?
Kids: For sale - cheap. - oh, yes, two, one of each.
Living Arrangements: well, let’s see. I set up the house the way I want and Hubby tells me how he wants it arranged. Then we find a middle ground that works.
Most Admirable Trait: Obsession?
Naughtiest Childhood Behavior: Where should I start? I guess the one that I find ironic is from my high school public speaking class…..or maybe the time when I was 17 and on a junior drivers license (meaning that you needed to be off the roads at 9 PM) and went nearly 100 mph down the Vestal Parkway at 1 AM… or maybe…
Overnight hospital stays: Boy’s birth - a c-section - 3 days, Girl’s birth - a v-bac - 2 days, Repairing the damage from Girl’s birth - I don’t remember anymore.
Phobias: falling uncontrolled, high narrow bridges (especially driving over ones with no real shoulders - the I90 bridge north of Buffalo unto Grand Island is the worst and I’ll go out of my way to avoid it.)
Quote: “oh shot” or “fair enough”
Reason to smile: My family
Siblings: 2 older half-sisters (though we grew up together and Dad adopted them), 1 older brother, 1 younger step-brother (don’t really know him), and 1 younger step-sister (got to know her as adults)
Time I wake up: When the alarm goes off - anything from 6 to 10 AM
Unusual Talent or Skill: I guess my leatherwork?
Vegetable I Refuse to Eat: Sweet Potatoes - can I say UGH?
Worst Habit: I’m not telling, though I bet Hubby could name a few.
X-rays: I’m not sure any more. I had a chest x-ray in high school when I considering going ROTC, I’ve had my ankle’s xrayed at least once, and don’t forget about teeth.
Yummy Stuff: Chocolate, Cheesecake….
Zoo Animal I Like Most: Yeah, right. I guess a lion. I’ve always been partial to the big cats.
Let me know if you decide to play along.
